Summer at Aurora Safari Camp

The Aurora Safari Camp is an ideal destination for summer adventures. Nestled by a large lake that's part of the Råne River, the camp offers breath-taking views in every direction. In the summer, guests can bask in the Midnight Sun and take part in an array of exciting activities that are possible during the extended daylight hours.

The summer months in the Arctic region have a unique charm. From early June to mid-July, guests can experience the Midnight Sun, where the sun shines for 24 hours a day, creating a magical atmosphere. Mid-July to August is the perfect time for foraging, as it's the berry picking season. And in late August, guests can witness the return of the Northern Lights, enjoying long sunny days and dark nights, ideal for Aurora spotting. At the camp you get a chance to really spend time out in the elements (whilst still being in comfortable surroundings). Here, you will take in sounds from the forest, wildlife, birds under the Midnight Sun and get to experience something truly unique.

DINING & LOUNGE AREA

There is a communal lounge and dining area at the Camp with a cosy fireplace to sit back and relax and there is a bar with a small kitchen from which delicious meals are served by the hosts. Outside on the veranda guests can sit and relax around a fire with a great view of the Råne River and the lake. On sunny days lunch and dinners can be enjoyed around the fire to make the most of the outdoor space. During your stay at the Aurora Safari Camp all meals and drinks are included. Breakfast, lunch, 4 course dinner, snacks and drinks that are served all day. There is always a house red, white, sparkling wine, and a selection of beer. A small bar is also available with whiskey, gin, vodka, rum etc.

LAND SAUNA & SHOWER

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest surrounding the camp while you wash and get ready for a day of adventure under the Midnight sun. The traditional wood fired sauna is equipped with a 12-volt shower system. Guests have private timeslots to enjoy the sauna and shower facilities, ensuring a comfortable and cosy experience during their stay at the camp.

CANOES

At the Aurora Safari Camp, guests have the opportunity to explore the serene waterways surrounding the camp in canoes. Canoes are perfect for those looking for a leisurely paddle, a romantic outing, or a chance to connect with nature. Whether you’re an experienced paddler or a first-timer, the calm waters of the camp’s surroundings make it easy to enjoy a relaxing canoe ride.

KAYAKS

Quietly glide through the water without disturbing the natural surroundings, kayaks are perfect for exploring the shallow bays and coves around the camp.

PADDLE BOARD

A fun and challenging workout on the water, the Aurora Safari Camp offers stand-up paddleboards to enjoy the beautiful scenery around the camp.

FISHING

The Aurora Safari Camp is on a crystal clear lake perfect for fishing. The camp provides basic fishing equipment, including rods, reels, and bait, all the essentials to try your luck at catching something along the shoreline. Life jackets are provided in various sizes for your safety. The use of the above equipment is included in a stay at the camp for guests to use as and when they wish

NATURE HIKE

GUIDED CANOEING

Discover the local area on a remarkable canoeing experience guided by an expert. Set out onto the tranquil lake and soak up the warmth of the sun while admiring the stunning scenery mirrored in the water. Relax as you paddle through the calm waters before stopping for a mouthwatering alfresco lunch. This adventure lasts 4 hours, including a light lunch, and promises to be a memorable experience.

 

FOREST CYCLE TOUR

Take part in a thrilling cycling adventure to explore the forest and its surroundings. Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through diverse tracks and trails, offering you the chance to discover multiple areas of the forest. Along the way, you'll learn about the various plants and wildlife that are native to the area. This activity lasts 4 hours and includes a light lunch, ensuring that you have the energy to enjoy the entire journey.

FISHING

Both the Aurora Safari Camp and The Floating Camp are located near numerous rivers and lakes, making them an ideal destination for those interested in fishing. The waters are abundant with various species such as pike, perch, and other indigenous fish, providing a diverse and exciting fishing experience. Depending on the day's location, you'll have the option to fish from a boat or the shoreline. This activity lasts 5 hours, including a light lunch, giving you ample time to hone your fishing skills and appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings.

STORFORSEN FULL-DAY TOUR

Experience the awe-inspiring Storforsen, Europe's largest waterfall, on an unforgettable full-day trip. These falls are a remarkable sight to behold throughout the year, but winter, with its ice, snow, and roaring whitewater, adds an extra level of magnificence. In contrast, summertime is a serene and peaceful time to explore, with only the sound of the cascading water surrounding you. The duration of this trip is 5-6 hours, including a light lunch, providing ample time to fully appreciate the natural wonder of Storforsen.

FOREST FORAGING

Indulge in a foraging experience and explore the natural pantry around you with the guidance of an expert. The forest is abundant with wild berries, mushrooms, plants, and herbs, providing an excellent opportunity to gather food from nature. During the tour, you'll learn about the various edible options available (As well as what to avoid!) and understand how these ingredients are traditionally used in northern cooking. This tour promises to be a peaceful and enjoyable experience in the wilderness.

VISIT A SAMI FAMILY AND THEIR REINDEERS

Experience the Sami culture with this immersive tour. Meet a traditional reindeer-keeping family and their cherished animals, and learn about their culture, work, and relationship with reindeer. You'll also have the opportunity to indulge in a traditional lunch, giving you a taste of Sami cuisine. This tour lasts 2-3 hours, including a light lunch, allowing for an in-depth understanding of Sami culture and traditions.

TWO-DAY CANOE TRIP

Embark on a two-day canoeing adventure through the pristine wilderness of the Råneå River region in Lapland. Begin by boarding your canoe and letting the river guide you through the stunning landscape. Throughout the journey, you'll camp on the riverbanks each night, with all necessary equipment - including tents and food - packed into the canoes. Råneå River is also an excellent fishing spot, where you can try your hand at catching pike, perch, and grayling. Get ready for an unforgettable experience in the Lapland wilderness!

HALF-DAY INTRODUCTION TO WILDERNESS SURVIVAL

Get ready for an incredible experience! Join our survival course where you will receive expert training from highly experienced instructors in a relaxed, stress-free environment. You will be provided with all the tools you will need before setting off on a hike into the forest. Here you will be taught the basic elements of Survival Priorities and Kit mentality and, among many other things, learn how to make a fire, navigate and how to find edible plants.

 

This is a low-intensity class with short walking distances at a slow pace to discuss resources like fire components and sheltering. Lunch will be provided. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to learn how to survive in the wilderness.
