Aurora Safari Camp

Aurora Safari Camp is the first glamping site in the world of its kind, specially created to celebrate the unique climate of Arctic Sweden. The camp is nestled amongst the trees on the bank of Lake Degerselet, part of the Råne River, and surrounded by forest in every direction – except when you look up. The camp has an uninterrupted view of the night sky, which in autumn and winter makes it the perfect destination for a Northern Lights adventure.

Aurora Safari Camp has five heated cabins: three large Tipi Cabins and two cosy Lapland Cones, uniquely designed for guests to enjoy a comfortable stay while being immersed in the nature of Swedish Lapland. The sauna on the lake is open year-round: in winter it freezes into the ice and in summer floats peacefully on the water. Our team are always on hand to ensure that guests enjoy their stay in total relaxation, with a personal approach to hosting that is the hallmark of the Aurora Safaris experience.

Aurora Safari Camp can be hired on an exclusive basis, for those that wish to have a truly unique and secluded stay. Guests can also choose to split their stay between the camp and The Outpost Lodge, our guesthouse further north towards the Arctic circle.

Getting to the camp

The Aurora Safaris reception is an hour’s drive from Luleå airport, or 40 minutes from Boden train station. Flights from Stockholm to Luleå are operated by SAS and Norwegian, and trains run from Stockholm to Boden C with Vy. We offer private transfers according to your travel plans and can collect from other locations in the area. Our guides will collect you for a tour through the surrounding woodland en route to our reception building in the village of Lassbyn.

To reach Aurora Safari Camp in winter, the final part of the journey from reception is covered by a short snowmobile sleigh ride with one of our hosts. In summer, this is either a 10 minute boat or guests can alternatively choose to arrive by canoe or kayak (our team handles all luggage transportation). We love to begin stays at Aurora Safari Camp with these non-traditional methods of transport – it’s the best way to feel completely remote in the heart of this incredible wilderness.

Optional Private Guided Transfers

Private guided transfers can be arranged to and from anywhere in Swedish Lapland and northern Finland. Stays at Aurora Safari Camp are often complemented by stays at our sister lodge The Outpost, which can be reached from camp via guided transfer or a snowmobile trip. We work closely with the other lodges and hotels in the area: Arctic Retreat, Arctic Bath, TreeHotel, Brändön Lodge, Pine Bay Lodge, Clarion and Savoy Luleå, Icehotel, Björkliden, Abisko Mountain Lodge, Fjellborg Actic Lodge, Loggers Lodge, and many lodges in Finnish Lapland.
